I love Sunday brunch.
It’s a great time for a family meal, but sometimes it can be on my own.
That’s exactly why I’ve chosen Sunday brunch as the setting for this podcast. It’s one of the few meals where time is not always at a premium, where we can slow the pace, notice what’s happening, and even share the experience.
In this episode, we explore mindful eating in a way that fits real life. We begin before the first bite, with anticipation. The body prepares for the meal long before it reaches the mouth, and learning to experience that moment rather than rush through it changes how the whole meal unfolds.
We then look at the food itself. Whatever your dietary pattern or lifestyle, the food we eat is part of the cycle of life. Whether plant or animal, this food has given itself to fuel us. Taking a moment to savour the food’s journey to the table, its growth, harvest, preparation, and presentation, helps us acknowledge it with thanks.
From there, the focus moves to the experience of eating. Feeling the warmth of the food, noticing the aromas, and allowing time to chew properly. Slowing the tempo, breathing consciously, and checking whether each mouthful is fully broken down before swallowing.
If the meal is shared, there’s space to say what you’re enjoying, to thank those who prepared it, and to notice how eating together shapes the experience.
This episode is practical, reflective, and designed to fit everyday meals, not just special occasions. One small shift at a time, building awareness, satisfaction, and a healthier relationship with food.
